Apple is set to release the new iOS 5.1 software update for its existing iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone devices – just in time for the launch of the new iPad 3. According to YourDailyMac, Apple could be set to drop iOS 5.1 on Friday, March 9th. The date was spotted inside the iPhone’s carrier operator profiles (available on beta rigs of iOS 5.1) intended for Japan, France, Greece, Finland, and Sweden.

The new version, marked 5.1 represents the first significant update to iOS 5 since its release in mid-October. Apart from fixing pesky battery drainage issues, iOS 5.1 software download would bring extra features to Siri which will allow users adjust Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings through the iPhone 4S voice assistant – much like what most of the Siri jailbreak tweaks does right now.

What do you think – Will Apple release iOS 5.1 along with iPad 3 launch? This should come as no surprise given that Apple tends to keep major changes and new features to the main product releases.
