Rogers, Bell Canada already tested Siri-enabled Apple’s iTV

Two major Canadian carriers Rogers Communications and BCE (Bell Canada Enterprises) have completed testing Siri enabled Apple iTV in their labs, The Globe and Mail reports (Via BGR). According to the report both companies are vying for a foothold in the next generation voice controlled iTV which is designed by Steve Jobs that will eliminates the need for complex remote controls and peripherals. The content and terms Apple is seeking are unclear, however.

Apple iTV
The Globe and Mail publication calls the iTV “a product that has the potential to revolutionize TV viewing by turning conventional televisions into gigantic iPads”. Apple’s forthcoming iTV can be controlled using voice commands or by making gestures in the air, and it supports Web browsing as well according to the report.
Rogers Communications and BCE are in talks with Apple to become Canadian launch partners for its much-hyped Apple iTV, a product that has the potential to revolutionize TV viewing by turning conventional televisions into gigantic iPads.
Apple’s upcoming iOS powered HDTV will be a game-changing device and would allow you to buy all sorts of apps to run on your TV, including “sharing/streaming/recording apps, interactive news apps, and of course games. It will likely replace the conventional remote control with Siri enabled voice commands. The iTV may also offer a customized channel subscription model. Either way, we’ll find out in a few months.
Apple, as usual, did not disclosed any information on the next iteration of the AppleTV, or acknowledge whether “iTV”  is under development but the recent report echoes with earlier claims that iTV do exists and is expected to be launched later this year.
