iPhone 3G 2.1: How To Jailbreak 12 Steps

Jailbreaking your phone is not illegal, but Apple does not approve of jailbreaking, so a jailbroken phone must be restored back to the original operating system if your phone requires a visit to the Apple Genius Bar.
Jailbreaking an iPhone permits you to edit and customize portions of your phone that are otherwise unchangable with the standard iOS software.
Jailbreaking also permits you to unlock your phone for use with other providers and permits you to access diverse app stores unavailable on the standard iOS.
Requirements:
iTunes
QuickPwn 2.1
iPhone 3g 2.1 ipsw
iPhone data cable
Directions:
01 - Right-click on your desktop and create a new folder named "Pwnage."
02 - Download both the QuickPwn 2.1 software and the iPhone 3G 2.1 IPSW pack. (See Resources.) Save both files to the folder that was created on the desktop.
03 - Open iTunes on your computer and then connect your iPhone to the computer using the iPhone data cable.
04 - Select your iPhone from the right navigational bar.
05 - Hold the "Shift" button on your keyboard and then click "Restore" in the main iTunes window with your iPhone selected.
06 - Open the "Pwnage" folder that was created on the desktop and select the iPhone 3G 2.1 IPSW pack, then click "Open." Follow the on-screen prompts to install the IPSW pack.
07 - Open the folder that was created on the desktop and double-click "QuickPwn 2.1." Click the blue arrow at the bottom-right to proceed.
08 - Click "Browse" and then select the 2.1 iPhone 3G 2.1 IPSW pack from the Pwnage folder on the desktop. QuickPwn will now check the IPSW pack.
09 - Click the blue arrow to proceed after the check has completed.
10 - Select if you would like to install Cydia and Installer, the two additional App stores. Also choose if you would like to replace your boot icons with the Pwnage icons. Click the blue arrow to proceed.
11 - Click the blue arrow to confirm the iPhone is still connected to the computer. The phone will now be placed into recovery mode.
12 - Hold the "Home" button on the bottom of the iPhone, when prompted by the software for five seconds, and then hold the "Home" and "Power" buttons together for 10 seconds. Then, release the "Power" button but continue to hold the "Home" button until the software indicates the phone is in "DFU" mode. The phone will now be jailbroken by the software.
